Manager, Brand Merchandising, HOKA

【本ポジションについて】

The Manager, Brand Merchandising, will work closely with Director, HOKA on the JP strategy for HOKA that encompasses all elements of the product value proposition (Right Product at the Right Place at the Right Time for the Right Consumer). Leveraging Omni-channel and wholesale insights, trend, brand, and category strategies, this person will define the seasonal JP consumer-right assortments and flow in support of HOKA’s financial goals and strategic brand positioning within our wholesale Channels. They will build relationships with key cross-functional business partners including Sales, Operations/Planning, Ecom, Retail and Marketing to help support a consistent and compelling brand presentation in Japan market. In addition to local counterparts, Global Product and Merchandising teams will be key partners for this role, with whom the Manager will provide in-detail product feedback and facilitate any local collaboration projects or local product creation. Last, the Manager will own partnership with local Finance team oversee HOKA Japan’s pricing and gross margin management.

2 【業務内容】

Formulate Long-term merchandising Strategy:

Build and present the long-term JP merchandise strategy, with supporting insights, assortment guidance and differentiation plans to channel teams as well as global counterparts.

Lead seasonal merchandising planning:

Lead development of consumer-right assortments, segmentation, and flow by category, ensuring assortments deliver the consumer requirements and financial targets for the entire JP market, as well as specific wholesale account groups. Own the entire product GTM process from Consumer Insight to in-season actions.

Lead, guide and grow HOKA Japan Brand merchandising team:

Support the Specialist, Merchandising with their scope of work. Provide useful feedback on their performance and coaching on their future career development journey at Deckers.

Partner with Sales team to maximize business opportunity:

Provide support and guidance with local Sales team at key trade show and sell-in conversations, including giving product presentation to key account stakeholders

Champion Product

Identify and recommend product needs to Global Product & Merch teams across footwear and apparel. Present all products to local teams outlining in-depth product insight, innovation and consumer benefits. Be the gatekeeper for product related internal inquiries from various internal teams including marketing, consumer support, QA, channels. Own and maintain local product master list (LINE SHEET)

Monitor market, channels’ & competitors’ trends:

Practice continuous innovation and improvement; staying close to channel performance, analyzing competitor activity, and pricing strategies, and identifying assortment opportunities and product needs for JP consumers

3 【Education/Certifications】
Bachelors Degree

【Work Experience】
8+ years of Product merchandising experience in Sporting Goods or Lifestyle footwear industry,
3+ years of people management experience.
Strategic planning experience in relation to merchandising/and or product creation.
Proven successful history of working with wholesale (Sporting Goods, Sneakers, Fashion) accounts as a merchandiser
Experience working directly and in-depth of teams from other countries

Excellent verbal and written business communication in English.
High regard and attention for detail and accuracy. Analytical and numeracy skills.
Excellent planning, organizing and problem-solving skills with ability to identify improvement opportunities and solutions.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and a talent for building relationships with internal and external partners.
Insight and knowledge of current product trends and awareness of consumer buying behavior.
Knowledge of costing, product safety requirements, packaging, QA and compliance.
Willing to adapt and take on new challenges, and to continually improve operations efficiency.
Proficient in Microsoft Applications with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Travel within Japan and to the US
