Under the leadership of General Manager, this position is responsible for developing mid-long range retail strategy to maximize brand opportunity through the retail channel. This position will work with other departments to implement DTC strategies that meet consumer needs and deliver an exceptional brand experience. Also responsible for contributing to sales and margin growth of UGG and HOKA brands in Japan by directly managing the retail stores and operations. Drive future growth of the brands through effective marketplace, fleet management and development in line with Japan Regional strategies. This position is also responsible for collaborating with merchandising and marketing reams to ensure and elevate quality of the brands’ business in Japan market.

1 【POSITION PURPOSE】

Also responsible for contributing to sales and margin growth of UGG and HOKA brands in Japan by directly managing the retail stores and operations. Drive future growth of the brands through effective marketplace, fleet management and development in line with Japan Regional strategies. This position is also responsible for collaborating with merchandising and marketing reams to ensure and elevate quality of the brands’ business in Japan market.
2 【ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS】

・Develop Mid-Long range retail strategy to achieve Long Range Brand goals
・Collaborate with other functions to implement and execute DTC strategy to provide exceptional brand experience through the Retail channel

・Be responsible for achieving retail financial goals. Manage and execute sales strategy in Japan ensuring achievements of brands’ objectives, brand representation, net sales and gross margin. Identify brand and products growth opportunities at market level to ensure maximization of sales across all existing and potential new product categories.

・Identify new retail opportunities and evaluate new/existing business plans to make recommendations on the appointment/renewal of retailer agreements.

・Direct business channels on product line merchandising, selection and selling strategy as appropriate.
・Collate individual distributor account brand information including market sales, product and sales data to provide the brand team with essential feedback and direction. Outline areas for future potential.
・Liaise with operations team to ensure accurate forecasting and buying to forecast, as per the critical path and oversee the logistics and inventory control.

・Recognize and reward behaviors that are in alignment and support the division and company initiatives.
・Foster open communication between stores and corporate business partners as well as different departments.
・Cultivate a collaborative learning environment within the retail by modeling the values and behaviors consistent with Deckers Brands and Global Retail organization
・Mentor team members and build employee morale through on-going training, and corporate outreach programs.
3 【Education/Certifications】
・Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion, Retail or Marketing is preferable.

【Work Experience】
・Minimum 6-8 years in sales and brand management role with a recognized and respected international brand.
・Direct experience of managing/selling emerging brands, ideally within a FMCG, luxury, footwear, fashion or sports multinational company.
・Minimum 3 years involvement in brand marketing and PR planning, co-ordination and execution with international markets and/or major retail accounts.

【Skills/Competencies】
・A sales manager with footwear brand market knowledge.
・Knowledge of the Japan market and excellent relationships and contacts with the key retail managers/directors.
・Business level proficiency in written and verbal Japanese and English.
